At Sojourn Church, we seek to make disciples of all peoples of all ages. Therefore, we don’t simply supply childcare so adults can attend our Sunday morning gatherings. Our goal is to provide a place where children learn about Jesus Christ and how the entire Bible tells the story of His redeeming grace.
The mission of Sojourn Kids is to teach children about the gospel of Jesus Christ and to come along side parents as they seek to faithfully shepherd their children at home.
We utilize The Gospel Project for Kids curriculum in all of our Sojourn Kids classrooms. This is a chronological journey through the Bible. The goal of this curriculum is to help children understand that the Bible is not just a collection of stories, but one unified story—God’s story of redemption.
All volunteers working in the Sojourn Kids ministry have gone through an application process and background check screening. Every one of our volunteers wear name tags and t-shirts with the Sojourn Kids logo on them when they are serving to help you identify them and to help us ensure that only approved volunteers are in our Sojourn Kids designated areas.
We also have a specific check-in process to ensure your child's security. When you check your child in, you will receive 2 stickers - one for you and one for your child. Both have the same 3-digit alphanumeric code on it. When picking your child up, you must present this matching sticker to the volunteers.
If there is a concern regarding your child during a service, you will receive a text message on the cell phone number that you provided during check-in. If you receive such a text, please return to your child's classroom.
In order to protect all of our children, please do not send any food with your child while he/she is in the Sojourn Kids area. All children in Sojourn Kids, with the exception of our youngest participants in the Nursery, will receive a snack during the service.
The Nursery is open at 10:20 AM through the end of the worship service. Our nursery is staffed by loving volunteers that strive to help even the smallest of infants learn they are loved by God. A snack is provided. If your child has food or other allergies, please inform the volunteers at the Sojourn Kids Check-In station as well as the care-givers in the classroom.
The Toddlers room is open at 10:20 AM through the end of the worship service. Our Toddlers room is overseen by loving servants that endeavor to help these little ones learn they are loved by God. A snack is provided. If your child has food or other allergies, please inform the volunteers at the Sojourn Kids Check-In station.
Once children are checked in, they will accompany their parents into our larger gathered service for worship and prayer. Around 10:50 AM, they are dismissed to the gym for Kids large group time which consists of an introduction to the lesson, Scripture memory, and games. All children then go to their individual classrooms and remain there through the end of the service. Our volunteers do not change diapers in the Preschool class; all children must be potty-trained before entering. The Preschool class consists of free-play, participation in an age-appropriate lesson from the The Gospel Project for Kids curriculum, games, crafts, and a snack.
After checking in, children in the Elementary classes are invited to join their parents in our larger gathered service for worship and prayer. Around 10:50 AM, they are dismissed to the gym for Kids large group time which consists of an introduction to the lesson, Scripture memory, and games. All children then make their way to their individual classrooms and remain there through the end of the service. The Elementary classes participate in an age-appropriate lesson from The Gospel Project for Kids curriculum, play games, make crafts, and have a snack.
Joining the team of Sojourn Kids volunteers places you in a vital role in influencing the spiritual lives of these children. The way we love and direct them sets them on a track to chase after Jesus for life! Serving well makes an irreplaceable impact in the future of God's kingdom.
