Bible Reading, Prayer, Study Questions

Posted by Justin Pearson on

Sojourners,

In a challenging time and in the midst of winter, I hope you are finding joy in Jesus this week as you strive to abide in him who is faithful and true.

I referenced two resources this past Sunday to hopefully help you be a joyful abider in 2021.

5-Day Bible Reading Plan
Enjoy Your Prayer Life book

Let's help one another pursue and commune with our Savior!

This Sunday we will continue in our Seeing Jesus sermon series and be in John 15:17-16:4

Here are some questions to consider as you study the text ahead of Sunday:

  • Why does Jesus say this to his disciples at this point? How does it connect back to what he has just said?
  • Why does he say the world will hate them? What does that look like?
  • Why does the world actually hate Jesus?
  • v. 26-27 can seem like a random interjection. How does it fit with what Jesus has said about being hated by the world?
  • In 16:1 and 16:4 Jesus gives us the reason he is telling the disciples this. How might persecution lead to falling away? How does what Jesus says help to strength faith instead of diminish it?
  • How does this text impact how you view your identity and life in this world? How does it challenge the way you live and move among your neighbors, coworkers, and friends? What encouragement do you take from Jesus' words?
  • Who is someone you can encourage this week with something you learned from this text?

Abide in Jesus and his love!

.grace and peace.
Justin
