Discipling | Psalm 1

Posted by Justin Pearson on

Brothers and sisters,

I am thankful for you. God has placed you in my life for my good and his glory. Thanks for being faithful to persevere in faith with me and with one another. We cannot do this alone.

This Sunday we will wrap up our Discipling sermon series by looking at Psalm 1.

While it is the end of our sermon series, it is just the beginning of the conversation to help us be disciples who make disciples.

Here are some questions to consider as you study the text ahead of Sunday:

  • What kind of Psalm is this and who is the Psalmist writing to?
  • What is significant about the contrast being laid out in v. 1?
  • What does it mean to walk in the counsel of the wicked, stand in the way of sinners, or sit in the seat of scoffers?
  • What does it mean to delight in the law of the Lord and meditate on it day and night? What is the purpose of doing this? How do we do it?
  • How does the illustration of v. 3 help you understand the author's point?
  • The conclusion of this Psalm in v. 4-6 is sobering. How does it effect you as you think about your own pursuit of God through his word?
  • Who is someone you can encourage with something you learned from this text?

Enjoy communing with God this week!

.grace and peace.
