Family,
I haven't really known exactly what to say or how to say it in light of what happened on Sunday in Texas--26 people, including several children, were murdered while gathering as the church in corporate worship.
It makes my heart ache.
Our world is very broken. But our Savior is not defeated.
The pastor of the church said this to reporters when asked to make sense of the tragedy: "I don't understand, but I know my God does."
That is faith from a sojourner who is living in the now and not yet, but who longs for the New City where there will be no more pain, no more death, no more sin. Where every tear will be wiped away and all things will be made new.
Sojourn family, cling to that hope as you pray for your brothers and sisters in Texas.
And, as the pastor also said--may the name of Christ be lifted high even in the midst of darkness.
I would encourage you to read this article by Russell Moore as you pray and process--Why Church Shootings Don't Intimidate the Church.
Jesus wins.
Love you all,
Justin
