Study Questions: Isaiah 58:1-12

Posted by Justin Pearson on

Sojourners and Exiles,

I enjoyed gathering with you this past Sunday and diving into 1 Peter 2:11-12. I hope that our time together in God's word continues to challenge and encourage you as you seek to follow King Jesus in a broken world.

This week we will continue in our Kingdom Citizens sermon series looking at how we are called to be merciful neighbors.

Our text this Sunday is Isaiah 58:1-12.

Here are some questions to consider as you study the text ahead of Sunday:

  • Who is speaking in this text? Why is that important to remember?
  • What are the people doing, not doing, and complaining about in v. 1-4?
  • A rebuke and correction is given in v. 5-7. What is it? What does God desire to see in the lives of his people?
  • How does this challenge our ideas of the life we are called to live as citizens in the Kingdom of God?
  • What does this kind of life look like practically here and now? Why does it matter?
  • What is the outcome of living this way (v. 8-12)? How does this encourage you to live as a merciful neighbor to your neighbors?
  • Who is someone you can encourage this week with something you learned from this text?

Enjoy King Jesus this week!

.grace and peace.
Justin
