Study Questions: John 12:1-11

Posted by Justin Pearson on

Hello Sojourners,

I hope you are doing well and enjoying the day. A dreary, wet morning turned into a beautiful day!

This week we begin John 12 in our Seeing Jesus sermon series. The text for this Sunday is John 12:1-11.

Here are some questions to consider as you study the text ahead of Sunday:

  • John says "therefore" in v. 1. What is he connecting this section to? Why does he do this?
  • This is a remarkable scene. What stands out to you about it?
  • Why does Mary do what she does with the perfume/ointment? What does it show us about her heart for and view of Jesus?
  • Why does Judas do what he does in response to her actions? What does it show us about his heart for and view of Jesus?
  • What is significant about what Jesus says in his rebuke in v. 7-8?
  • Do you tend to be more like Mary or Judas in your day to day life in response to Jesus?
  • What is significant about the information John shares in v. 9-11?
  • Who is someone you can encourage this week with something you learned from the text?

Enjoy Jesus this week! I look forward to gathering with you in person or via Facebook Live on Sunday!

.grace and peace.
