Study Questions: John 13:18-35

Posted by Justin Pearson on

Sojourners,

After 7.5 months it was a blessing to be able to gather indoors with you this past Sunday! I am looking forward to doing that again this Sunday.

This week we will be in John 13:18-35. A timely text for all that is going on around us.

Here are some questions to consider as you study the text ahead of Sunday:

  • What strikes you about the scene in v. 18-30? What do we learn about God's sovereignty and human responsibility?
  • With things set in motion, what is Jesus seeking to communicate in v. 31-33?
  • In v. 34 Jesus gives a simple command to his disciples (and us). What is significant about what he says? How is this a new command?
  • What are the implications of obeying this command seen in v. 35? Why is this important to recognize?
  • What does striving to live out the command to love one another look like practically in our lives and community? How is this different than the way the world loves?
  • Who is someone you can encourage this week with something you learned from the text?

May God be your exceeding joy this week!

.grace and peace.
Justin
