Study Questions: John 15:1-8

Posted by Justin Pearson on

Sojourners,

I am looking forward to diving into John 15 with you this week! This Sunday will be our last week in our Seeing Jesus sermon series for 2020 as we begin an Advent series the following week. We will jump back into John in January 2021.

This Sunday we will be in John 15:1-8.

Here are some questions to consider as you study the text ahead of Sunday:

  • What is significant about Jesus calling himself the true vine and his Father the vinedresser? What does that tell us about the Father and the Son?
  • What do we learn about what the vinedresser does to the branches from v. 2? What does this look like in real life?
  • What does it mean that you are already clean in v. 3? Why does Jesus say this?
  • What is significant about the truth and command of v. 4-5? What does it mean and look like to abide in Jesus?
  • What is the fruit we are to bear by abiding in Jesus?
  • What is the outcome of branches that do not abide (v. 6)?
  • What encourages and challenges you about v. 8?
  • Who is someone you can encourage this week with something you learned from this text?

Enjoy Jesus this week!

.grace and peace.
Justin
