Study Questions: John 17:6-26

Posted by Justin Pearson on

Sojourners,

We are getting closer and closer to wrapping up the Gospel of John!

As we head toward Easter we are heading toward the cross and empty tomb in our sermon series.

This week we will be in John 17:6-26.

Here are some questions for you to consider as you study the text ahead of Sunday:

  • What stands out to you about how and what Jesus is praying in this section?
  • Who and what is he praying for in v. 6-10?
  • What  does it mean that his disciples are in the world (v. 11)? Why does he say he is not asking for them to be taken out of the world (v. 15)?
  • Unity is a theme throughout this section. Why is it so important and how does it relate to being sent into the world (v. 18)?
  • What encourages and challenges you about v. 20-23?
  • How does unity and mission connect to one another?
  • What is encouraging to you about v. 24-26?
  • Who is someone you can encourage this week with something you learned from the text?

Enjoy Jesus!

.grace and peace.
Justin
