Study Questions: John 19:38-42

Posted by Justin Pearson on

Sojourners,

This Sunday is Palm Sunday, the Sunday before Easter. I am looking forward to anticipating the Resurrection with you this week and celebrating it on April 4.

By way of reminder, we are doing a joint Easter gathering with RGC at 9 and 11AM. Please register ahead of time if you haven't already.

But before we get to Easter we arrive at the tomb where Jesus is laid.

Our text this week is John 19:38-42.

Here are some questions for you to consider as you study the text ahead of Sunday:

  • This is a short passage. Read it a few times. What sticks out to you?
  • There are a few people in view in this text. What do you learn about them? What is significant about them in light of what is going on?
  • Why is John giving us these details? How do they advance the narrative? Why do they matter?
  • What stands out to you about who is not mentioned in this text?
  • What can we learn or apply from this text for our own lives and relationship with Jesus?
  • How does this text prepare you for Easter?
  • Who is someone you can encourage this week with something you learned from this text?

Enjoy Jesus this week!

.grace and peace.
Justin
