Study Questions: John 20:19-31

Posted by Justin Pearson on

Hi everyone,

It was great worshipping with you on Easter Sunday at RGC. Thanks for gathering and inviting friends. Let's pray for continued fruit in the life our church and those who don't yet know Christ.

We are coming to the end of our Seeing Jesus sermon series.

This week we will be in John 20:19-31.

Here are some questions to consider as you study the text before Sunday:

  • What is the context for these verses? What do you learn about how the disciples are feeling from v. 19?
  • What is significant about Jesus' greeting in v. 20, the disciples reaction to his appearance, and his repeating of the greeting in v. 21?
  • What is Jesus calling his disciples to in v. 21? Does this have bearing on our lives as followers of Jesus? If so, how?
  • What does v. 22-23 mean in relation to v. 21?
  • What do we learn about Thomas, seeing, and believing from v. 24-29? How does this impact our own sharing of faith and personal belief?
  • John summarizes his whole gospel account in v. 30-31. What do you learn? How does this encourage or help you?
  • Who is someone you can encourage this week with something you learned from the text?

Enjoy seeing Jesus this week!

.grace and peace.
Justin
