Study Questions: John 21:1-19

Posted by Justin Pearson on

Hi everyone,

I hope your week is going well as you walk in the reality of being a sent one.

This week we will be in John 21:1-19.

Here are some questions for you to consider as you study the text ahead of Sunday:

  • What is the context of this text? What is significant about the words and wording John uses in v. 1?
  • What stands out to you about the scene depicted in v. 2-14?
  • Why might John suddenly recognize that it is Jesus standing on the shore after they catch the fish (v. 7a)?
  • What stands out to you about Peter's reaction in v. 7?
  • What is going on in v. 12? Why do they not ask him?
  • What is significant about the words and wording of the questions Jesus asks Peter in v. 15-17? What stands out to you about this interaction? What is Jesus doing?
  • What is the point of v. 18-19? What is significant about Jesus call, "Follow me," in v. 19?
  • How does this text impact your life and relationship with Jesus?
  • Who is someone you can encourage this week with something you learned from this text?

Enjoy Jesus this week!

.grace and peace.
Justin
