Study Questions: Philippians 2:1-8

Posted by Justin Pearson on

Hi everyone,

I hope you're doing well and finding joy in Jesus.

This week we will be jumping into Philippians 2 as a church. I hope that the sermon series and your individual time in this wonderful book has been enriching and encouraging for your soul.

Just by way of reminder, we are encouraging the whole church to study Philippians on their own each week in preparation for gathering together on Sunday.

So take at least 5 days in a week to read and study the upcoming text. Take time to write down notes and journal what you are learning. Consider memorizing some or all of the verse. Also, think about how you can engage one another over this text. Also, here is Basic Bible Study guide once again.

May God continue to use it to conform us more and more into the image of Christ.

Here is the info for this coming week...

Text to be preached: Philippians 2:1-8

Study and Reflection Questions:

  • Reread all of Philippians 1. Write a few summary sentences of what this chapter is about.
  • How is this text connected to what Paul has already said?
  • What is significant about Paul's phrasing in v. 1?
  • What is Paul ultimately calling the Philippians to do in v. 2? Why is this important?
  • What does it mean to be humble? What is hard about humility?
  • Why does humility matter in the life of the Christian and in the life of the church?
  • How do v. 5-8 inform our personal and corporate pursuit of holiness and humility?
  • Who can you encourage this week from something you learned from this text?

Have a great week in God's word!

.grace and peace.
