Study Questions: Philippians 2:12-13

Posted by Justin Pearson on

Brothers and Sisters,

I am looking forward to jumping into the next section of Philippians with you this week. As I mentioned on Sunday, I'd like to encourage you to consider coming back to Fairfax on Saturday (if you're traveling for Thanksgiving) so you can gather with the church Sunday as we get into an important text for our individual and corporate lives.

I also want to encourage you to keep getting into the text ahead of each Sunday so you are prepared to engage as the word is preached each week.

Let me know if I can help you with that in any way.

Text to be preached: Philippians 2:12-13

Study and Reflection Questions:

  • Consider the context of these verses--read before and after. Why does Paul say this now in light of his letter?
  • What does Paul mean by obedience and who is the obedience to? Why is this significant?
  • What does it mean to work our your own salvation? What other texts of Scripture can help you understand what Paul is and isn't saying?
  • Why and how does this matter for daily living?
  • Why is it essential to see v. 12 and v. 13 together? What errors would be present if we separate them from one another?
  • Who can you encourage this week from something you learned from this text?

Enjoy Jesus this week!

.grace and peace.
Justin
